Global Partnership Schools and AirTran Airways celebrate
Successful tutoring program in Connecticut
June 11, 2010 — NEW HAVEN, Conn. — This year, more than 300 eligible students in New Haven, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Stamford participated in a free after school tutoring program provided by Global Partnership Schools. The students’ efforts resulted in academic gains during the year—in one New Haven school, students gained at least 10 levels on the Diagnostic Reading Assessment (DRA)—which will be celebrated this weekend during a special day of fun for students and their families.
On Saturday, June 12, Global Partnership Schools will host a Family Fun Day Celebration to recognize the achievements of students participating in the program in New Haven. Students and their families will enjoy a range of fun and educational games, activities, an obstacle course, food, and exciting door prizes including four round trip, business class tickets for one lucky family, provided by AirTran Airways. The event will be held at Fair Haven School from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The Family Fun Day Celebration will highlight Global Partnership Schools’ commitment to offering parents the highest quality extended learning opportunities for their children. As a Supplemental Educational Services (SES) provider, Global Partnership Schools’ extended learning program engages students in a creative, active learning environment delivered through rigorous, individualized, student-centered curriculum. The program also features KidsTalk, a lesson plan that bridges a connection to student’s hopes and aspirations to customized instruction in a safe, caring environment.
“We believe the best tutoring programs extend beyond the classroom, engaging families in a 24/7 learning environment that supports learning and establishes high expectations,” said Global Partnership Schools CEO Manny Rivera. “Our Family Fun Day celebrates the efforts of students, parents, teachers, businesses—such as AirTran Airways—and the community who have shown their commitment to improving the educational experience of students in Connecticut.”
